Since starting her Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Zoe was always determined to further develop in the Hotel industry. That’s why she chose to join the Housekeeping department, which is generally considered as a busy department, for her internship, her first foray into the industry.
Zoe thought the internship was a good way to challenge herself and get new experiences. With this belief, Zoe succeeded in accomplishing her goal step by step. At the beginning of the internship, she could only manage cleaning a few guestrooms, but as time went on, progress was seen and she was able to meet her targets.
Besides receiving professional training from the department trainers, she was impressed by the monthly internship workshop provided by the Learning & Advancement department. Zoe developed a deeper knowledge regarding different departments in the hotel through the sharing of other trainees. She also benefitted from the senior management team, who were invited to share their experiences, and interact with the trainees and provide encouragement to them.
Zoe’s internship performance was highly commended by the department. After graduation, she successfully passed the Hotel Management Trainee interview and started professional training in different Hotel departments. Now she has completed all her assessments and is working in the Front Office as Duty Manager. Every day she has to handle different queries from guests of multiple backgrounds, and as expected, challenges always appear. However, Zoe never gives up or feels distressed. “Nothing is impossible, just like accomplishing the department standards during my internship seemed impossible to me, but finally I succeeded!” says Zoe. This internship experience not only enhanced her professional skills, but also her confidence, job satisfaction and determination to strive for more in her career journey.
